BMC Club Southern California - Career Development
Dear SoCal Bryn Mawr Alumnae:
Greetings! We are the new career development co-coordinators for the
Bryn Mawr Club of Southern California, and we would like to take this opportunity
to outline our plans for the next few years. Career development coordinators
for alumnae clubs typically sponsor career related events and promote regional
networking among alumnae. With ongoing assistance from Anne Gershensen
'87, the previous coordinator, we intend to continue her efforts and expand
our services to local alumnae.
In the coming year we will:
-
Sponsor events throughout the club's region, such as our December 11, 1999,
event on "Legal Issues in the Workplace";
-
Provide networking contacts matching job seekers with alumnae who work
in a relevant field or area of study for advice;
-
Schedule social gatherings so that interested club members can get together,
discuss work issues, and share professional advice with other alumnae in
an informal setting;
-
Establish a job announcement email list for interested alumane in conjunction
with the College's Network News;
-
Encourage alumnae to avail themselves of the career counseling services
and job information available through the College
We are excited to serve in this capacity and would like to continue to
provide as responsive and relevant a career development network as possible
for the Southern California Club. To that end, we ask that you complete
our survey.
Based upon our survey results, we would like to prepare a directory of
club members in order to promote and facilitate communications among members.
Your suggestions, interests, and recommendations will ensure that our plans
meet club needs.
In the meantime, here's what you can do to get involved:
-
Send your e-mail or postal address to Saskia or Margaret
-
Email us any job announcements that you receive through your job or professional
organizations for our referral to the College's Network News.
-
Suggest events and locations that would best assist your career planning.
-
Volunteer to serve as a career contact for alumnae relocating to the area.
Please plan to join us in this effort. The job search/career change process
is almost always a difficult one, and with your help we hope to make it
less so for other SoCal Mawrters. We look forward to hearing from you and
seeing you at upcoming events.
Sincerely,
Saskia Subramanian '88
