We are very excited to participate in re-building the Bryn Mawr Club of Southern California. We plan to support fund-raising for student scholarships and participate in Community Service events. We also look forward to building a community of friendship and education, and sincerely hope that we can provide interesting, fun, and educational activities for you. Our official mission is "to provide alumnae/i with positive connections to the College and each other by encouraging alumnae/i friendships and contacts, professional networks and continuing education."
At minimum, we plan to sponsor six annual activities for the entire Club. The activities will include two for Professional and Educational Development, two for Admissions, and two Cultural Activities, beginning with May Day on the Beach. The Club will also help organize monthly book club meetings, community service activities, and fund-raising events.
The boundaries of our Club reach from Santa Barbara County to the Mexican border, from Nevada to the Pacific. We welcome members from the undergraduate , graduate, post-bac, and McBride programs to participate all activities. We are also exploring opportunities for sponsoring activities with Haverford, Swarthmore, other Seven Sisters Colleges, and the Ivy League Alumni Association.
Due to the large geographic size of our Club, we encourage the development of regional clubs. The Southern California Club will help publicize regional events in the quarterly newsletter, on our web page, and provide mailing lists as needed. If you would like to organize a regional club or book club in your area, please contact us.
We are looking for a Community Service Coordinator. If you would like to be a member of the Board and take the opportunity to plan and organize community service events, please contact us.
Finally, we would like to recognize the efforts of Amy Biermann Hughes '95 in re-organizing the Bryn Mawr Club of Southern California. Thanks to her efforts, Bryn Mawr once again has an alumnae/i association here in the Southland.
We look forward to meeting all of you.
Warmly and with much enthusiasm,
Kristine Westover MacRae '94

As Cultural Activities Chair, I would like to remedy that - but I need your help. I need to know if there are any things that you've been wanting to check out, such as museums, restaurants, shows, sporting events, concerts - anything you think might be fun to do en masse with your fellow Mawrtyrs.
We have one activity already scheduled. We plan to visit the new Getty Museum. The only problem is that we couldn't get parking reservations until November 14. From what I've heard, though, it's well worth the wait. We are also planning to do a fundraiser in conjunction with the soon-to-be open San Diego Aquarium.
I'd also like to put some ideas on the table:
Thanks!

Also, I would like to get to know the Admissions representatives outside of Los Angeles County. I feel that we can coordinate our efforts in some areas. Please give me a call.

I plan to organize two career development activities, one in the fall and one in the spring. Based on what other cities have done, these can range from networking cocktail hours to panel discussions about particular fields to single speakers. Please let me know if there are particular speakers or fields in which you are interested.
Please contact me if I can help you or if you are interested in helping to organize the Southern California BMC alum career network.

Somehow, after almost twenty years of hibernation, I have resurfaced as Treasurer of the Bryn Mawr Club of Southern California! So far, it has been a delightful experience: I've had the pleasure of meeting Carolyn Lee, the most recent Treasurer, and I have had many entertaining conversations with Martha Erwin, whom many of you may remember as Treasurer from 1983-93. I've heard about the generosity and camaraderie that have characterized the Club in the past, a tradition that we hope to continue! Martha, by the way, sends her warm greetings to all her friends back here and tells me that alums are few and far between in New Mexico. She misses the gatherings and the contact with all of you.
We are planning many exciting events and activities, and our policy is to include everyone, regardless of ability to pay dues. Nevertheless, we will need a steady flow of contributions in order to pay for the newsletter, for events, and to fund our charitable activities, including BMC scholarships. I hope that as many of you as possible will make annual donations to the Club.
On a personal note, the "lost years" were very productive for me. I became a psychiatrist, got married, and had a daughter, who is now four years old. I look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones; I'd love to share war stories of all-nighters: in the dorms, on the wards, and at cribside.
Most sincerely,
Maria Davila Rudolph '81
