Tea with Nancy

For our most recent club event, we met for High Tea with Bryn MawrPresident Nancy Vickers at the Peninsula Beverly Hills Hotel. Seated inthe gorgeous living room near an elegant fireplace, a harpist and beautifulbay-window view provided the perfect backdrop for conversation. Our partyrepresented a range of classes, and we enjoyed conversation over thebottomless pots of tea. The meal arrived on charming three-tiered platescomplete with scones, pastries, and finger sandwiches. The best of thedelicacies that included smoked salmon sandwiches, mini-cheesecakes, andpetits fours. The afternoon was a complete success, and we all lookforward to Nancy's next club visit when we will head up to the wine countryin Santa Barbara for wine-tasting and dinner. We hope to see you there.

The tea with Nancy Vickers was such a success that we though it would be agreat idea to have a "roaming tea". These teas will take place everyquarter at various tea houses in Southern California. The first one willtake place on June 5 at the Vintage Tea Leaf in Long Beach. If you haveany ideas for future "roaming tea" locations, please contact Susan Wood.

We need a roster of volunteers to help out with Library Publications?

Mail us your ballots!

We are nearing the end of our first fiscal year and the Club must determinewhat proportion of the money we donate for scholarships will go to theAlumnae Regional Scholarship Fund and what proportion will go to the HopeWearn Troxell Fund.

The Alumnae Regional Scholarship Fund is a financial aid fund for allstudents at the college. Financial aid from this fund is distributedwithout regard to the student's home district, or to the amount that thestudent's home district raised that year. Nevertheless, the AlumnaeAssociation takes note of the total raised in each district, and allots 1-3Alumnae Regional Scholarships ($2000 stipends to sophomores for independentstudy projects) on the basis of the district total.

The Hope Wearn Troxell Fund was established in memory of Hope WearnTroxell, '46. This fund provides financial aid for a student from SouthernCalifornia. The money donated to this fund annually does not count towardour district total when Alumnae Regional Scholarships are allotted to eachdistrict.

There is a ballot on the tear-off portion of the newsletter. If there isany aspect of this vote which you do not understand, please do not hesitateto call Maria Rudolph at 909-624-7103.
